Flagstaff RV park

Can anyone suggest a good RV park in the Flagstaff area with power and water minimum for sure?
We would like to use it as a home base for day trips to Sedona, Walnut Canyon, etc.
Would be coming to Flagstaff from the Grand Canyon south rim and leaving Flagstaff at the end of the stay for Bitter Springs, Grand Canyon North Rim, etc.
Thanks,
Morley
  • J & H is the best place in Flag IMHO. We have stayed there and put up with some of the staff and the many rules. Avoid KOA (and I am not a KOA basher in general).

We have also stayed at Munds Park and it was fine - have not been there for a few years. Munds Park is 23 miles from Flag. J & H is east side of Flag and a ways from Sedona. Munds Park would be closer but no easy way to get to Sedona from there - you can take Schnebly Road but is a long and not easy ride due to the road conditions - but spectacular. If nothing else, take it from the I-19 just south of Flag - maybe exit 320 - as the first miles are a pretty good forest road to a spectacular viewpoint. But down from that viewpoint to Sedona is a challenging "road". Have done it but need good high clearance vehicle or a rental car.
  • Walnut Canyon National Monument, Sunset Crater National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument near Flagstaff are definitely worth visiting. However; in my opinion for Sedona and the surrounding area, there are a lot of better places in the Camp Verde/Cottonwood area including Dead Horse Ranch State Park that would make it easier to visit the attractions in that area. Some of those attractions are:
Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well National Monuments,
    Tuzigoot National Monument,
    Palatki and Honaki Ruins,
    V-Bar-V Heritage Site,
    Verde Canyon Railroad,
    Cathedral Rock,
    Schnebly Hill Road, and
    the town of Jerome.

Hope you have a Great Time!!
  • J&H while decent and clean is a bit odd. It caters to the retired RV'ers with a pot luck dinner on some nights. Great if you fit that crowd. The owners got mad at us for having outside lights on after 9pm. I noticed nobody outside their trailers after 9. Could not even have our dim yellow patio light on. Then she noticed a beer can on our table. She said that they were Christians (so are we) and that maybe we'd do better going to a different RV park for our 'type'. This was about the 5th time we'd been to this park but the 1st time the owners acted this way.

Munds park is quite nice and friendly. The spots up against the forest are much nicer than those further out.

Woody Mountain is forested but no campfires and bath houses are rather dirty. Hosts are very nice. Some spots are small.

Kit Karson has a lot of full time mobile homes and not at well run as Woody Mountain.

KOA spots are tight and campground could use some renovating.

Willams 30 miles to the west has many great choices:
KOA Circle Pines has many large forested spots, clean restrooms, pool.
Grand Canyon Railway has a new RV park. Can use their hotel pool. Very nice.
  • Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. It is truly appreciated.

Williams is out of the way and much hotter.

I find the Williams to be about the same weather as Flagstaff. They're both about the same elevation. Some of the RV parks in Williams are in the open with few trees so certainly more sun. KOA Circle Pines is forested with lots of shade. We used to stay around Flagstaff but have since switched to Williams. Much nicer RV parks and the kids enjoy Bearizona and the Deer Farm and the nearby lakes.
