Florida campground

Looking for rv park somewhere around Dade City Florida. (1 hour or less away). Would like towards the ocean. Looking at the whole month of February 2015. Found one called Seven Springs, over by New Port Richey. Wondered if anyone has stayed there? We like to bicycle, kayak, hike and snorkel.
  • Re Rock Crusher - I was sure I remembered some small lakes with RV's backed up to the water - sorry, did not mean to mislead anyone. It is a beautiful park though.

Take a look at Rock Crusher Canyon near Crystal River. Don't let the name put you off - it is a beautiful c.g. that I would describe as between an RV park and a state park. Lots of vegetation and large sites, some on small lakes. It might be a litle further away from Dade City than you want, but for kayaking and snorkeling that area is prime. Lots of activities in the park and shopping etc. close by.

What Tripalot says about Rock Crusher is correct except for the part about "...some on small lakes." There aren't any lakes at the park. There are some low areas for rain runoff, but it's somewhat sandy around the park so you rarely get standing water. We'll be there for 2+ months this coming winter for our third visit in three years. Nice place!
  • There is a county park in Ruskin Fl (E G Simmons) about an hour away from Dade City. Don't take reservations but you can stay for a month at a time for $18.00 per day. It is on Tampa Bay and has great sites
  • I was going to suggest Rock Crusher Canyon in Crystal River too. We'll be spending our third winter there later this year for 4 months. They were full up last year but there might a spot for a month if you call now! We love it there.
