Florida CG help

Has anyone stayed at Lettuce Lake CG in Arcadia? Looking for suggestions for parks in the Sarasota/Venice/Arcadia area.
  • I guess you should ask how long you are looking to stay and what activities are you intrested in. I don't know much about Lettuce Lake other then I have passed it on the way to and from Arcadia. That park and others in that area are a good ride from the beaches. Golf courses are plentiful here in SW Fla. and vary in price from expensive to fair. It also depends on the time of year you are here. If you want to be close to the beaches, bike trails, you need to look from Englewood to Sarasota. The state parks are nice but you had better start booking for the winter now. Also if you enjoy a more cultured life and I don't mean to offend anyone then Sarasota, Venice and Fort Meyers may be for you. I am refering to stage shows. concerts, etc.
  • Riverside is adding 142 sites that will be completed by Sept. They will have a new shower/restroom/laundry ready in Sept. Also adding cable to a large area of the park. They are adding to the big pavilion by fall. Swimming pool, etc. are planned for the future, but I do not expect any other completions by fall. I have never seen a winter tent camper. In fact, I don't think that there are many snowbirds that tent.

Bonnie (manager) and Karen (Assistant) are the best in the business. Maintenance is also outstanding.

Check Riversidesnowbirds.com to see and read about the winter activities. We have been there for 12 winters. This will be the first winter that they have not had a "wait list" of at least 50 campers. If you want in to Riverside, now is your chance. Tell them that "Big John" suggested that you call them for more information. Always good for a laugh!!!

I highly recommend Riverside Rv Resort. This is about 4 miles from Lettuce Lake. It is about 4 miles East of I 75 on the Peace River. We have stayed there for 12 years and plan to return this winter.

We were recently there and they are at least doubling the number of sites. Do you know what they are doing as far as more club houses and pools etc.?
Are there many tent campers there during the winter?
  • We stayed there a few years ago. It was nice, and not much different from most of the snowbird parks in that area.

  • We used to stay at Riverside RV Resort and loved it. It is on the Peace River and has an active kayak club. The snowbirds are very friendly and there is something to do night and day. It is closer to Port Charlotte and the Walmart is only a few miles away. I don't remember much about Lettuce Lake. It is an older park as I recall.
  • Cross Creek is supposed to be nice and cheap by comparison
