Another interesting spot farther south on US 98 is the area around Dade City north of Tampa. If you take SR 52 west out of Dade City you will come upon St. Leo Abbey and University with its historic church surrounded by orange groves. You're allowed to go inside and if you time it just right, the monks will be singing their prayers in chant. An especially nice time to go is when the orange trees are in blossom in late winter, early spring.
Just west of the abbey is the tiny town of San Antonio with its historic square and moss draped live oaks: it's like stepping back in time to old Florida.
