Florida Gulf Coast

We will be heading to Florida. Any suggestions for rv parks on the gulf side in the northwest going south no farther then Tampa.

X2 - just left there a couple of weeks ago. It is not far to go to the Gulf Coast from there. Gainsville was also a pleasant surprise. They have a nice paved bike trail if that is your thing.

Check the Williston website for "deals". They had specials this year for first timers.

  • X2 for Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park in Crystal River. Great area and people.
  • Henderson State Beach in Destin....the park in on the water but the campground is a very short walk across the boardwalk. For beachfront camping, try Camp Gulf in Destin.......Dennis
  • Ft. Pickens campground out at the western tip of Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola. Topsail Hill State Park near Destin. St. Andrews State Park at Panama City.

These two state parks are very popular and require reservations long in advance.
  • Rock Crusher Canyon is popular, it is in Crystal River:

If you are looking for beach access parks then you won't find many once you leave the panhandle and turn down into the peninsula. On the Gulf coast anyway. No white sand beaches until you get close to the Tampa Bay area.
