Thought we'd get out of the midwest winter for a week or so and head to the Florida pan handle. Well looks like a lot of folks have the same idea. Boy, the State Parks fill up fast. We did luck out and got a couple of days at Ft. Pickens and a couple at Grayton Beach and plan to sort of wing it for another week or so an just travel about.How far in advance do most of the State Parks generally fill up for that time of year? (This is our first winter venture.) Sort of shocked.

LOL, I think you can make reservations 7 months in advance, so a good time to make those reservations would have been last September or maybe October. FL State Parks are always full in the winter and are mostly full the rest of the year.

Plenty of room at the State parks here in Michigan. Beautiful this weekend, bright sun, bright snow, great ice if you like to fish.

Florida state parks are available for reservations eleven months to the day at Reserve America. But be aware that the farther south you go the quicker they fill up, and the Keys are immediately gone at 8:00 AM and south Florida goes next.Jack L

We make our Florida state park reservations usually within the first 30 seconds or so of the 11 month reservation window opening at 8:00am for the dates we want. It's not unusual for the more popular parks to fill up within the first minute or two. For us, that means we're making next winters reservations while we're in Florida for the current winter.
