Flying Flags RV Park - Report

Buellton, CA

This is a place well manicured, especially clean and neat. All facilities well maintained and new looking.

Only a few RV spots have a campfire iron cage and a gas BBQ, and they are the premium spots - about 20 in all. Also the premium spots have a concrete pad for the RV, and the rest have hard-packed earth/sand.

The pylon for the hookups are substantial, nice and convenient, not just an electrical outlet sticking out of the ground.

Largish swimming pool, two spas - one outside, one enclosed. Good looking Rec room (which we didn't use) and super clean rest rooms.

Laundry room well kept.

This will probably be a regular place for us as we explore Buellton, Solvang, Lompoc, Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, Lake Cachuma, etc.

    Our favorites are on the west side of 101. Foley and LaFond.

    In Solvang area we love Rideau although they are expensive. To the north Cambria is one of or favorites. Further to the north near Pismo Beach we love the somewhat unknown wineries at Edna Valley.

    Next weeks trip will take us to wineries of Paso Robles and then later in then week after Buelton/Solvang area.

    Many RVers use Allstays.com and TripAdvisor.com to plan their trips. It would be great if you would post your excellent review there.

    We have been exploring the wineries there for years. We divide our time between there and Temecula.

    Zaca Mesa is still our #1 favorite. YMMV

    We've stayed at FF's several times and will be there in a few weeks. Mostly there to enjoy the many wineries in the region.

    Actually we have stayed at Cachuma Lake and liked it a lot especially since it was so quiet and the birdlife was fascinating. No complaints about it at all. Oh, no swimming allowed. It was too hot for fishing at that time.

    We like both and would stay at either depending on the purpose of the trip.

    Cachuma Lake water is down, but so are many, many lakes in S. CA.

    As long as we are mentioning restaurants, of course Anderson's is always great, but check out the Hitching Post (featured in the movie "Sideways") for fabulous food. Sandra's in Solvang for breakfast is first rate. Also try out Industrial Eats - we liked all of them.

    FF is a nice CG, but Cachuma's 500 sites are spread out on well over 100 acres. Haven't been there this year but it's possible that there is more water on the tables at Pea Soups than in the lake.

    X-2 Sometimes I'll stay at Vandenberg AFB as well. Very nice area to visit.

    Flying Flags is one of our favorites.

    We took our brand new 5th wheel there on it's maiden voyage. It was a little weird because the TT in the site next to us was exactly like the one we sold after we ordered the 5th wheel.
