For Alaskans going S... is snowbirding essential travel?

Last spring we were very concerned about being allowed to drive home from the lower 48 to our home in Alaska. Thankfully the Canadian BSO let us cross the border. We did not have an RV... just travel...

Don't call, write to them. Ask for a response in writing. If the answer is yes then bring the letter with you to the border when you cross. You will then have written permission and there will be no doubt as to who said what on the phone.
