Fort Jackson SC

We will be heading to Fort Jackson SC in July for my sons graduation from Basic Training. Would appreciate recommendations for where to stay while there. We are looking at SESQUICENTENNIAL SP. Advice as to site selection or if there may be better choices in the area. Thanks...

  • see http://www.fortjacksonmwr.com/weston/ but your son will have to sponsor you, which could be a trick being he his having all the fun right now. Maybe call the contact in above link and ask how do they handle your type of visitor. Half way down on link page is their travel camp. And getting on base using the "right" gate would also be a question. Just a thought, Your son might not want anything to do with the base and wants out of there?
The last thing I had in mind after graduation was staying on base!

    Hope this helps.
  • Sesqui, as it's popularly referred to by locals, is an excellent choice. Big park on the NE side of Columbia. Once inside the park, you forget about being so close to shopping, etc. Close to the base. Enjoy.
  • This is very old information, but when I was stationed there, because Ft Jackson did a lot of growing commercial timber at the time they had an awful lot of land and a lot of nice camping places. I was in the engineers and when we didn't have any other projects, we built some of them. You might be able to use them.
