Found a Campground near Johns Hopkins

I know there has been a few threads on here and a number of PMs passed about too on camping near Johns Hopkins Hospitals. Many hospitals have places for RVs to park for their patients, especially the ones who have to go there outpatient every day for months. I am starting a 6 week session of radiation and strated looking for a place. One wasa trailer park that flooded north of town but the KOA Capital KOA in Millersville. We called and the KOA said they had just been talking about that last night. They asked to call us back and they called soon after hanging up. They said they moved things around and had a site for us for as long as i needed it on a reduced rate and no worries. They put us across from their work camper and near the bath house too. They have been nothing but nice and accomadating. So if you are going to have to go to JHH for treatment give them a call. They said they will try to make two site available and we are their first time doing it. There are lots of hits on many campgrounds but these guys went above and beyond the normal and deserve to be recognized for it too.
  • I'm surprised they will let you stay that long.

Because when DH was working in the area, his jobsite was only 15mins away. But they said they only let campers stay 2-wks at a time. Not good for us, so we stayed @Cherry Hill 40 mins away.
  • Another possibility is to camp at petascpo state park which is located a few miles from the Subway station and take the train right to the front door of the Hospital. That's how we do it when visiting my Grand Daughter who works there. Not all that close but SURE beats fighting all that Baltimore traffic.

    Good luck / Skip

Double ditto. We were just there in March. The manager was very accommodating and very good to the campers. These are just plain nice folks and I recommend Capitol KOA as A#1.

Oh and they also stock those Magnum ice cream bars in their freezer:C Seriously set my waistline back but worth every bite.

Great report and great to hear. I'll likely send them an email of thanks for their goodwill even if I don't ever use it. I, too, was faced with needing emergency lodging a bunch of years back when staying at Johns Hopkins. They helped us find a 2-bedroom apartment for 2 weeks for a fraction of the price of a hotel room. I always appreciated that.
  • God Bless you and may things all go your way <3

    Prayer sent.
  • Yes they bent the rules for us and they are going to see how having a site for long term hopital stay works. We are very happy here and thy seemto be wonderful people.
