I would get a small ice chest and head on down to Zimco Marine. Also, I highly recommend the Shrimp Boat tour down there, it was very interesting and informative. After you do the tour you can buy fresh frozen shrimp, I think it's called "Texas Gold". There's really not any "fresh" shrimp, it's all flash frozen on the boat. It was explained that they cannot afford to go out daily and return with unfrozen shrimp due to the cost of fuel. They go out for weeks at a time before returning. You will learn all of this on the tour. After the tour you probably will not ever eat shrimp imported from China, or any of the far east shrimp farmers. I won't touch anything but wild caught Gulf Shrimp. I think HEB has their own shrimp fleet down there.
