frostproof fla

Has anyone snowbirded in Frostproof Fla? Where did you stay and how did you like the location?

Thanks
  • We winter in Port Charlotte/Englewood. Have spent a little time in Frostproof. Lots of orange groves. Some fresh water lakes. I'm sure there are golf courses. I know there are some RV parks around, but didn't stay there. Sorry, don't know more. weather is normally good in winter months. Once in a great while, night time temps, will get below freezing. Good luck.
  • We winter in the Mt. Dora area and like that there is less traffic around when you need to go places. Frostproof does look similar and a bit further south.
  • We have stayed in Frostproof for approximately ten years at two cg's, Rainbow Resort and Lakemont Ridge. Both of the campgrounds are very nice. There are other ones in the area also. Frostproof is located about ten miles from any big box stores, midway between Lake Wales and Avon Park. Hope this helps.
  • I live in Sebring, about 18 miles from Frostproof. The two CG's that Don B mentioned are good ones. His advice is also good. Keep in mind you'll be driving 10+ miles for many of the necessities you will want. I've known several people who have spent a season in Frostproof and then moved north or south to shorten their drive to the store. Something to think about if it matters to you.
  • Southern Pines is a nice park in Frostproof. I have friends who stay there, but I winter in Lake Placid, about 40 miles south, also a nice area.

  • We stayed in Wauchula which is about 30-40 minutes from Frostproof last January. Lots of folks loved the location but it really wasn't our cup of tea. Just too far from everything. Nothing for miles around but orange groves and cattle. Still haven't found an ideal FL location for the winter but trying a few other places this year.
  • My wife and I stayed at Adelaide S h ores RV Resort in Avon Park. Great park, close to shopping and restaurants. We did go to Frostproof to have an ice cream ever now and then. If you check-out my blog you can do a search for Adelaide Shores RV Resort.
