It spiked twice this year here in CA and never went back down. I paid $3.55 this morning and may stations are close to $4. In spite of our highest gas tax in the nation and the cap and trade carbon tax on our gas, there is no real reason it should be this high. Refiner's profits are currently triple or more their average take, but no one will do anything. We keep hearing all the usual excuses which fall apart when scrutinized, what we are essentially left with is this is what they want to charge, and there is nothing anyone will do about it.
