- brireneExplorerPine Mountain in PF comes highly recommended. I usually prefer to stay nearer to GB due to (slightly) less traffic. Camping in the Smokies is a nice, no frills park that was reasonably priced imo. Also on the trolley route. Lots of choices, as well as opinions.
- joloooteExplorerIf u want noise, traffic, people and T-Shirt shops it won't make any difference which one. If u want quiet, beauty, forest & wildlife than u want to go to the North west side of the park near Townsend. Several very nice Full hookup parks here. Do the loop drive (Bears) at Cades Cove. The Nat'l Pk CG at Cades Cove is very nice but no electric.
- GeoBoyExplorerPine Mountain RV Park is a very nice quiet Good Sam campground. If you want a quiet stay ask to be located away from the pool/bath house in the rear of the campground. Showers are very nice, laundry is nice and it is on the trolley line. Easy to get to the visitor center at GSMNP by taking the Gattlinburgh bypass. Have fun.

I agree and if you want to try the NC side try Maggie Valley. - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerWe live River Plantation in Sevierville.
- Alabama_JimExplorerWe like Creekside in Pigeon Forge. There is a red light to get into the busy traffic area, easy in and easy out. We travel with a TT. I saw some Class A motor homes, but it is a little hard for them to negotiate in the park.
- 1ofmanyExplorerNewport KOA is close and very reasonably priced.
- RVcrazyExplorerWe liked Pine Mountain. We were there for Dollywood & to see the Cade's Cove area. Both were very crowded!'
- Campfire_TimeExplorerWe really liked Smoky Bear Campground, immaculately clean, excellent staff, away from the craziness that is Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, about 20 minutes east of Gatlinburg, 10 minutes east of a full service grocery store, and a hot tub!
Unless you have kids, I personally would stay away from Pigeon Forge. - HelmseyExplorerOur go in that area is River Plantation, we absolutely love that place. It's far enough off away from the main road that you don't get any road noise and I think it's one of the most reasonable priced RV Parks around there.
That said, we are trying out Pine Mountain in a few months. Went to visit some friends up there 2 weeks ago and really like it. It is a bit pricier than River Plantation, but we'll try it once and see if it's worth it (to us).
