I was going to mention Anchor down, but I've never been there. I've seen the reviews and they are great! How far/close is it to G-burg? - RingerExplorerIf you stay elsewhere, at least go up to Anchor Down and do a ride thru. The place is amazing. It was on our bucket list so we stayed there last Fall.
- Toolguy5Explorer IIIWe have stayed at Riverside Rv Park on Boyd's Rd in Sevierville the last 2 years. We will be there again this October.
Nice campground, reasonable it is about 1/2 hr drive to Gatlinburg with the traffic.
We like it there, it is out of the way from all the hustle. But still accessible to get to all the hustle. - tsetsafExplorer IIIReally nice http://www.campgroundviews.com/listing/twin-creek-rv-resort/
Tons of info http://bit.ly/1PjpT5c - I just got back from up there this past weekend and the traffic was bumper to bumper and it was wall to wall people. I suggest staying over on the NC side or wait until after August 15th.

We stayed at Jellystone outside of GB, we really enjoyed the park.
X2! The Jellystone in G-burg (Cosby TN) is great. Mostly All sites on a creek flowing out of the NP. The campground backs to the NP and there is plenty of good hiking from there.
X3. We've stayed there once and really enjoyed it. HOWEVER, it's no longer part of the Jellystone franchise. It is now called 'Imagination Mountain'. Here's the link.
Good to know! I`m surprised the owner really went out of his way to make the franchise one of the best. any idea if the same guy still owns it? he was a retired cop from California.
The web site says it is the same owners; the Landrys. - dodge_guyExplorer II

You can cut thru on the Douglas Dam Road and save time and miles. Everyone will have their reasons. Ours is being in a quiet cg more in the center of where we want to visit. Anchor Down is on Douglas Lake and has a small beach, nice pool and it all paved. Our favorite by far.
- VeebyesExplorer IIRiver Plantaion. Far enough from the noise but close enough if that is what you want.
