- CeciltExplorerPine Mountain for us as well. In PF so getting around is much easier. While RV plantation looks nice the location is terrible IF you want to go into PF and Gatlinburg. You'll spend way too much time in traffic.
- CrawfordvilleExplorerI'm so glad this question was asked. We're trying to decide where to go for July 4th and we considered Gt/PF area but had no idea where to stay. I googled mapped it and it is quite a hike for us - almost 9 hours.

Several places....Depends on what you want. We didn't want to be in the thick of the tourist stuff, and wanted a back door entrance to the Smokies and Cades Cove. Wears Valley worked for us and Cove Creek RV Resort was clean and nice. Concrete slabs, cable, wifi, pool, clean and new. Besides a pool, not much for kids. We don't have any, soooo.
Tell us more about what you want and want to do or see ( kids, etc?).
We have stayed at Cove Creek and would again. Most times when we go to the mountains, we stay in Townsend. Several nice parks to pick from. - byrdr1Explorer

We like River Plantation in Sevierville.
X 2.
We have stayed mostly in Pigeon Forge area. Several nice and some not so nice campground in ad around Pigeon forge. I have never stayed at a campground in Gatlinburg, only hotels. BUT they have several up that way too.
randy - zackyboy3rsExplorerPine Mountain looks very good, clean and easy to get in and out. Are the back-in riverside spots the best for shade during the summer?
- ken56ExplorerLook up Cosby area campgrounds. Some nice ones out of the craziness but not too far away to go into town easily. It all depends on what you want. Staying in town lets you take the trolley to most places, cheap and easy way to get around. There are ALOT of choices available. Biggest problem is availability at certain times of the year.

Yes. #61 is our favorite even though it is the furthest from the pool. You are back in a little cul-de-sac with one other site and a cabin close by. The ones closest to the pool are right on the road, so we don't get those. - zackyboy3rsExplorer

Is the little cul-de-sac big enough to turn around and park? - MerrykaliaExplorer

It's not really long enough, but it does give you some "wiggle room" to turn around and then back in.
