Georgia States parks Veterans Memorial State Park

I'm just PO'and blowing steam. :M
We have stayed several times at this state park. Spacious campground with sites that are well set. This state park also has a short line excursion railroad, a couple of golf courses and condo/lodge room. We go there for the museum and the history of nearby Andersonville Historic site from the Civil War.
I spent 30 minutes yesterday (twice) trying to find and book an RV site in the campground. I could not even find a map of the campground to confirm what site and the dates we wanted to be there. When you go the official site you get this "welcome to lake blackshear resort"
Nothing to show CG map, or numbers. I put in the dates and immediately got photos of rooms and details at the resort/lodge.
If any of you guys take a look, let me know how you got to the CG booking area
  • I'm sorry about that frustrating experience. BTDT.

Whenever I want to go to a GA State Park I go through the GSP website. I see they've turned over the management of the park to a private contractor. GSP has done that with several of their parks. I don't like it either.

I clicked on the Veterans Park tab and it pulled up a link to a map and to camping. Here's a map to the park with the campsites numbered. You have to magnify or zoom in to see the numbers.

  • It looks like the Resort has taken over the campground operation as a concessionaire. Use the "GA Veterans Park" drop down menu on the resort home page to access the campground options. You can make reservations using the resort reservation page by changing the "Accommodation" from "All Room Types" to one of the "Campsite" selections. The park map is here: Park map
  • Thanks guys. I didn't realize that is what has gone on. I did find the maps and confirm the sites we were thinking of. I am so glad my mind is not completely gone.
Good folks helping each other. Thanks once more
  • I agree it is a bit 'fiddley' to book there now. I have reservation there for January. :)
