Glacier - Red bus tours

Take the Red Bus Tour! They provide blankets and great drivers--you get the VIEWS! We did the east to west and enjoyed lunch on the west side and then returned to our campground.

Another vote for the Jammers - and we really enjoyed the full-day tour. In our case we took it from the west side, but from either side will work. Not sure if he'll still be doing it, but our driver Glenn was outstanding. We had all sorts of weather that day, so we really saw it all!

One advantage of these tours is that you will get to stop and look around at Logan Pass (the top of the Going-to-the-Sun Rd.) Those driving their own vehicles may not find a parking space there.

Hi, Marv. The Red Bus Tours are very popular but we have not taken one - even though we have been to Glacier several times. We like to be on our time frame and pick our stops and duration for photo work or whatever. There is an upside to that. The downside is we lose all the narration. Have a great time.

We took the evening four hour from Apgar, it was a very enjoyable ride. We did some research also asked some drivers and we were advised that the evening drive was the best.

It was a little on the nippy side when we did it, and after the top was down it got a little more nippy...so the driver stopped and brought out a bunch of quilts and blankets for us to cuddle up in. Perfect!

We love the red "jammer" buses. Take the longer trip. Bring water, sunscreen and your camera.

We have also taken the Red Bus tour. It was great and quite unique. You can ride a regular A/C bus anywhere - those red jammers are different.
Pick a good day and dress for the conditions.

We took the Native American tour from East Glacier. The guide was awesome. The tour is narrated and we learned about the Native Americans, their hunting, how they built their teepees to withstand the wind, the wildlife and plant life and how they used the different plants for medicinal purposes. There were many stops along the tour to get out and take pictures. Very interesting! We took the 7.5 hour tour which only goes on the East Side up to the summit. You could then take the 1/2 day West Glacier Red bus tour a different day. We have done both the tour and have driven both sides. If you've never been, I would highly recommend the tours. There are so many stunning views and photo ops. Also the road is windy and the traffic on the weekends is bumper to bumper so you really have to pay attention. Can't look at the scenery and pay attention to the traffic at the same time!

Being the 'driver' I thoroughly enjoyed taking the Red Bus.
I got to sit back, look and enjoy sightseeing without one peep of 'Watch the Road'
