Thanks for your suggestions! We like to day hike one day and motorcycle the next. I am thinking of spending 4-5 days at Glacier and then maybe 8-10 days at Yellowstone. Last trip out west we moved too quickly since I made too many reservations and had to keep going.
About right on days. Perhaps add a day for Grand Teton, but then I find Yellowstone far more interesting than Grand Teton, have spent 24 days in the former (with more coming this year) and maybe 4 in the latter. My suggested Y to GT ratio is about 5:1 in time spent.
If you have time, there are three distinct areas in Glacier to camp, all are worth doing, Apgar on the west, and Many Glacier & Two Medicine on the east. If you can do just one, then Many Glacier. Adjacent Waterton in Canada is worth time as well.
While we are taking about Canada, Banff & Jasper are within reach if you are already at Glacier. Far more glaciers to be found there.
If you are taking this trip in early summer, you should visit Yellowstone first, as summer comes later up in Glacier. If you are coming in late August, then Glacier first makes sense.
If you are comfortable with mountain riding, then do Beartooth and Chief Joseph on the bikes, allow a full day for both as a loop.
