Glacier NP

Per the NP website it looks like there currently is one forest fire (Sprague Fire) inside the park and several outside. I am not finding info on smoke and haze. With my asthma I do not want to eat smoke. Any info is helpful and appreciated as we are planning a TT trip there the second week of September.
  • I live in Kalispell 30 minutes outside Glacier Park and the smoke from fires is very light here and in the park. Even the most susceptible to smoke-related health problems aren't suffering now. Mid-September should be much better as cooler temperatures and higher humidity rolls in.

For an update on the Sprague Creek Fire inside the park, visit the Montana Inciweb Fire Website. It's updated daily with fire conditions for all fires in Montana.

We will probably see you in the park, as we will be camping there at the same time.

Incidentally, I'm a 911 Dispatcher and took many of the 911 calls the night the Sprague Creek fire started, which was during a major lighting storm.
  • If you are on Facebook, you can "like" the Glacier National Park Facebook page and get updates that way. The latest update I saw from this morning is that the Sprague Fire is still burning, but growth has slowed. But the weather is supposed to remain hot and dry so that could change. There is smoke in that area.

You can also get updates here:

  • Where there's fire, there's smoke. If you have bad asthma you may want to reschedule.
