Since it looks like you will be coming from the East, I would consider staying at the St. Mary's KOA.(I have not stayed there as I stay inside the Park)
I have visited Glacier several times and think that there is more to see and do on the east side. If you have your passports, a day trip to Canadian side of the Park is a easy day trip.
If you chose not to drive the "Going to the Sun" road, it's convenient to catch the shuttle at the St. Mary's Visitor Center. Take it to Logan Pass, then catch a shuttle to the west side.
