I will add, there is an RV park near Gypsum called River Dance RV Park
Yes, we stayed there once just as an overnight. It is a pretty "bare bones" campground, and as I recall, not inexpensive. But it was in the right place for us on that trip, and under the same circumstances I would not hesitate to stay again.
We were looking for a park with exactly the relation to Glenwood Springs that the OP mentioned. This was the best we found to the east.
