Do Option 2 to the Tetons/Yellowstone.
You could also easily work in a drive thru or one night at the Grand Canyon. Just head west on I-40 to Williams and enter the park from the south. Stay at Mather campground in the park for a night and you'll have access to the free shuttle for a little touring if you have time. Do your look-see and leave the park to the west to Hwy 89 heading to Page, AZ. As you drive through stop at a few viewpoints and that would be plenty to get the gist of the canyon.
The Petrified Forest/Painted Desert could also easily be done on a drive through. If your on limited time don't waste it on these areas. Also, this is probably a summer trip and all those areas will be hot, especially Tombstone. So unless your route takes you this way, I would skip it.
Option 2: Excellent. You could come in from the south/Jackson area. We have stayed at both Gros Ventre and Colter Bay campgrounds. Gros Ventre is our favorite with a chance of seeing some animals in the campground. You really wouldn't need a reservation for this campground - we never have. Again, on a tight schedule, 2-3 days would be plenty if you're not planning a lot of hiking. There is a summer rodeo in Jackson and also Cody, if you have time.
Then continue north through the Tetons into Yellowstone for how much time you think you have left. You can exit the east entrance to Cody if you want to do that before returning home.
Have fun planning!
