I just did a quick calculation on miles - ONE WAY:
1) Austin to Yellowstone - Directly - 1625 miles - ONE WAY
North on I-35 to I-70, I25 to Cheyenne, WY, I-80 to 287 through Jackson and Grand Teton Nat'l Park (not to be missed) and into Yellowstone
2) Austin to Grand Canyon-South to the national parks of Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches - 1732 miles ONE WAY
You could go from these figures as to how many hours a day you want to drive, your return route, etc.
