I wish we had more time, but since we're not full time yet 2 weeks for the full trip is about all we can plan. This is our current plan, with a day to load up and get read and then a day to unload and clean everything before going back to work. We could only get 3 nights at Canyon but we figured at that point we'd need water/dump anyways. After reading many of your comments I was wondering if we should add more time at Yellowstone and stay a couple of nights at a different camp or just outside the park.
2 nights out
2 nights drive through Jackson and Tetons
3 nights Yellowstone
2 night Bozeman (visiting an old friend)
2 nights Tetons
1 nights back
Surprised that no one has mentioned that route 22 west of Jackson is still not exactly RV friendly. 10% grades with switchbacks. Much easier on the brakes and transmission to take route 26 out of Idaho Falls to Alpine Junction then route 189 up to Jackson.
We always stay at Gros Ventre campground for the Tetons near the southern end of the Park. They have water/dump plus one loop with electric. No reservations, but we have never had a problem getting a site. If you go there, watch for Moose along the Gros Ventre river coming up from Jackson as well as in the campground. The bulls will have full racks in September.
For a few extra days in Yellowstone, there are a number of private RV parks in West Yellowstone. Another possibility is Bakers Hole Forest Service campground just 3 miles north of West Yellowstone on route 191. They have water/dump plus one loop with electric. You could also try for a site cancellation or a first come/first served site inside Yellowstone.
