It's rare for us to not release our gray water. We dig a hole and open the valve when we first arrive, so it just drips in and is soaked up as fast as it's used. 30-50 gallons over 2-4 days soaks up pretty quick.
I have never seen anything say you cannot dump gray in dispersed camping areas, just use some common sense on how you dump/release it. Dumping a tank full at once is not going to work on most soils and will cause erosion and mud. A slow release is no different than tent camping, in fact when camping near a stream with a bucket I have seen tent campers make bigger messes than any campers slowly releasing gray water.
