Well, I have learned a few things. First, I did not know that there are some places that permit the dumping of gray water -- I need to ask the ranger, instead of just assuming it is illegal! Second, even if it is legal, I would never "dump" -- we would dig a hole.
But third, the idea of rigging a hose to a deep hole, and letting the gray water run continuously, is very interesting (again, assuming it is permitted). The hole would never overflow, since we never use more than two gallons of water at once (while showering). Our total daily consumption is five or six gallons, and that includes flushing the toilet.
(And yes, Phil, we do have a shovel!) ;)
