We have a septic system with a leach field and were told not to plant consumable plants on top of it.
Hmmm. Maybe it's because we live in the desert. Even during the Monsoons the ground is dry very shortly after the rain stops. The leach pipes are buried 5' to 6' in a couple of feet of gravel. I can't imagine anything leaching upward. I'll let you know if it kills me, though. ;)
