There can/could be no better place for proper "treatment" due to the huge layer of ashes that serve for filtration, and fire itself takes care of any bits of food/grease/whatever may be present in the greywater.

Same here. I will usually put our camp fire out with about 4-5 gallons of GW at the end of the night. Really it's the best of both worlds.
