And there are others, backpackers, who would smile while the truck camper describes their adventure too. You make a valid point about not judging people for what they do. :)

That is exactly where I thought as well and feel it has to be Jalama. Shhh, don't tell the surfers too...can I interest anyone in a delicious burger and beer? :)

We like Oh! Ridge CG in June lakes in the eastern Sierras. No hookups but their are some great views and close to many eastern sierra attractions.

We also like Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows for camping.

Collier state park (OR) was very nice and of course just about any Oregon coastal park.

Thanks to ALL who responded to my topic. This is very helpful to all of us that love the outdoors. It helps us choose the right campground based on everybody's input I know a lot of us have had bad experiences int the past but we learn from our mistakes and also we can learn from the experience of our fellow campers so lets keep this forum going and those bad experiences will turn into great ones.Thanks again and lets keep on camping and also lets take care of our beautiful parks so we can enjoy them for many years to come.

My sons house on an island in Pudget Sound. Right on the water with excellent view of shipping lanes, Seattle's lights at night, and every once in awhile the dolphins come in close enough to watch. Fishing boat and crab pots included with site. Down side only 20 amp service at this time. However there is no overnight fees and a couple of grandkids to play with. Matter of fact headed there in two days.

Someone said that a million dollar RV is not a camper. I must respectfully disagree: although I have a tiny trailer and greatly prefer boondocking, I say "to each his own." To some people (some of whom are close friends of mine), staying at a luxury RV resort "campground" is a great adventure, compared to their usual Ritz Carlton experience. Bravo!

And just to stay on topic, I nominate Buckeye Campground in the Eastern Sierra near Bridgeport -- high altitude, very cool and quiet, great views of the mountains and the valleys, great hiking nearby.

RV - Wallowa Lake in Eastern Oregon
Tenter or small RV (under 21'), Angel Lake Nevada outside Wells. It's at 8900', and when the sun rises, you can see it reflect off of Salt Lake.

Rafter J in Keystone South Dakota is the best option for any size rig in the Black Hills. Excellent facilities, camp store, fuel pumps on site and still remote. Disney Ft Wilderness has more to offer except hills and being away from town.

Williwaw State Park (overlooks Portage Glacier)
Teklanika Campground in Denali NP
Seward City Campground (scenery--although have to share it with close neighbors)

Interesting how some get High End Resorts confused with Campgrounds.
