Grindstone would be our destination, whether or not it's worth a stop, is entirely up to you, there is basically nothing there (which is why we would be there) except beautiful country, mountain scenery, solitude, hiking & some bike riding.
Out of curiosity, is Grindstone your destination spot or a stop over?
We plan on being in that area, from Fairy Stone SP, then touring Mt Airy and heading to Natural Tunnel SP. Is Grindstone a worthwhile stop for a night or a couple of days? - wecamp04ExplorerTheir's miles and miles of hiking trails, the appalachian trail is near by along with mount rodgers virginia highest mountain, you can rent a bike and ride the creeper trail.graysonhighlands state park is also near by. I think they close for the winter November 30th.

We take a chain saw and collect dead and down within the forest.
