had my fill of campgrounds

Last weekend at a USFS campground I was, again, awoke at 1 a.m. by loud drunk people who really have no thought of others and I have had my fill. I really don't understand why this is so common but it is. So can you educate me on where I am allowed to camp? I live in Portland Oregon and like the MT HOOD area. I can cry camp just fine. Not clear on where I can go. Thanks

  • There are lots of great (and quiet) boondocking sites just east of Mt. Hood, off Highway 35, not too far from Tamanawas Falls trailhead. I would recommend unhitching your trailer and using your tow vehicle to scout the campsites -- some of the forest roads in that area do not have wide enough areas to turn the trailer around. Please don't ask me how I know that.
  • It's probably more common on weekends. In fact, it's a given on weekends. Doesn't look like you're retired.. so maybe you cannot go during the week.
