I've been commuting between central WA and southern CA for 10 years, and it's getting old, so I'm looking at homes that aren't such a grueling drive. Found things I like in southern ID and NW NM.This mild summer has been a real boon to my electric usage. I just got last month's bill, for a whopping $27. Thank you Grand Coulee Dam. I'm not going to find cheap electric like that anywhere.

Last months S&B electric bill (Central AZ) was $310.78Natural Gas bill was $12.79Course come winter they swap......although Gas is never that high ($52 highest---electric same period was $82)

With your money there is nothing to worry about. :)

For the winter, electric is cheap in the Mesa, AZ area (Salt River Project). Highest bill last winter (all electric with heat pump) was $78 - and that includes standard washer & dryer. Normal is about $40-50 for any given month. Last October, days in the 90s, nights in the 60s, it was $78

I live in southwest Idaho. On level pay, our gas is $39/month and electric is $75. Hard to beat those prices.

Solar works for me. I generate about 1/3rd of my power and pay less than $100 per year in SoCal.

TOU rates are key. Sell high price during the day, buy at low price at night. :B
