Baton Rouge has a city owned equestrian park with RV sites that I learned about from folks here on rv.net. Nice place with reasonable rates and super nice folks working there. If you are there mid-week, it is almost completely empty. Weekends when LSU is playing at home, it is wall to wall, especially because it very near campus. Water, elec sites, but nice easy to use dump station and clean bathhouse.
Oh yeah, here in the South, October and November are huge camping months as the weather is cool enough to make being outside tolerable.
