we are going end of April into May. Both "campgrounds" are nice. The one you are staying at has a good restaurant and is at the beginning of the island. Very nice campground. You will be close enough to Savannah and Tybee Island to do day trips. I don't know if you will take your dogs with you or leave them in the camper, but there are some outside restaurants on Tybee Island that allow dogs. But not on beach. I know HHI allows dogs on some of the beaches but not sure of the time you are going. One thing you need to know HHI "hides" restaurants, banks, grocery stores so gps is needed. The island likes to keep everything very neat. I think you will enjoy it. I also think you will enjoy the campground to the point, depending on the # of days you are there, you will stay at you site and relax.
