Hot August Nights, Reno NV - Park Recs

I am gonna try and get a jump on the 2014 Hot August Nights festivities in Reno. We have a Super C and Box trailer for 68' total length. I am aware of River's Edge RV Park in Sparks and the RV Park at GSR. Has anyone stayed at either or could recommend another that can deal with a large rig and trailer?

Thanks
  • Thanks all. I have a 1965 Malibu SS that I will bring. It is a great driver. I will try GS first then Gold Ranch.

    Our home base is Reno and will concede that the GSR parking lot is a good location for HAN's being that they are one of the car display sites.

    With that you will of course have to make the choice but there are only 2 choices of places to stay while in the area that we recommend;

    1. Sparks Marina

    2. Gold Ranch in Verdi just west of Reno on I-80 near the Boomtown KOA (another parking lot).

    Good luck and Hot August Nights is always a fun time.

    X2 I like Gold Ranch best. We have stayed at both of these. It's a little more of a drive. For hot August nights I would pick Grand Sierra. You can see a few hundred cars there without having to drive yourself. Normally they have a discount for veterans but for special events maybe not. Nice places to eat onsite as well.
  • Gold Ranch is the nicest in the area, but Sparks is nice (for a parking lot).

  • We are staying at GSR as I write. No problem with size. Double wide pull through spaces. Lots of large rigs here, one large bus size rig with Cadillac parked along side. The KOA at Boomtown is another suggestion. Its very nice and plenty of space.....right off 80 and about 3 miles W of Reno. Right now we are choking from all the smoke,however, from fires.
