That is a good time to go. Not crowded and not too hot yet. This is an excellent area to try dispersed camping. I love it here. You can camp a lot of places including Valley of the Gods, which is BLM and has some great campsites. I camped just east of Natural Bridges on a forest road and really enjoyed it. If you have questions on more specific spots just send me a message.
