Yosemite doesn't hold snow on the ground like Yellowstone. The valley is at 5,000 feet. You may catch a snow storm but if it's not on the day your are driving, it is manageable. Once snow hits, the roads in and out shut down. I consider myself blessed to have been in the valley once when a storm came through. Great photos.
March to May is the window but it all depends on the snow pack at elevation and when the thaw starts. If I remember correctly, 01 April is considered the peak snow pack for the Sierra's.
