How far do you post in advance?
Just wondering, is there a waiting list on campsites in areas? How far do you plan in advance? Is it all a logistical game or do you fly by the seat of your pants? How far do you plan ahead?

We've found this summer while on our trip in the New England states that reservations have been necessary. For real vacation destinations (Bar Harbor, for example), reservations 2-3 months out were necessary. We waited until a couple of weeks out for some destinations and couldn't get a site where we wanted, so had to find a place a little farther away. It really depends on where you're going and what time of year, or if it's a holiday.
When en route, we don't make reservations, but will call ahead an hr. or two before arriving. It occurred to me that we'd need a place for 1 night in Brunswick GA on our way home, and it would be the Friday of Labor Day weekend. It's a really nice place with easy on/off I-95. We've stayed there before with no problems calling an hr. before arriving. Because of the holiday weekend, there are no sites. So, it really does depend on when.
