I64 West VIrginia, looking for an easy quick stop

I am making a run to Ohio this weekend from North Carolina, I expect to be East of Beckley, WV at the end of the day and I'm looking for a campground or a boondock I can slip into for quick 8 hours.

Normally I'd just crash in a Walmart parking lot but I'm thinking I might bring someone along and we'll need to spread out a bit.

Somewhere between the WV line and Beckley would be perfect.

    Herd Fan, we have been advised not to take the nearest exit to Beaver Creek State Oark but to come in the back way. We are thinking of stopping next week. Any advise?

    Camp Creek State Park is not too far past Beckley,and is within 1-2 miles of turnpike. It has nice campsites that are level with electric.

    WVA Turnpike rest area near Beckley has plenty of parking & gas station + restaurant. If you are a vet, Beckley has a Veteran's hospital you might be able to park in overnight.

    Little Beaver State Park is around 10 miles east of Beckley and only a couple of miles off I64.

    I'm sorry, I was not very clear. I'm traveling in a single cab pickup with a with a large dog.

    I will either sleep in the open bed of the truck or pitch a tent.

    So I'm looking for a campgroud that's close to I64 or a logging road that leads into the national forest East of Beckley.

    The Travel Plaza at Beckley has Burger King, Sbarro, Starbucks and Quiznos as well as a huge parking lot if you need to overnight. And you don't have to leave the turnpike.

    Great place to overnight in parking lot, and a fantastic breakfast, plus lots more. Check with them by phone, it has been several years since we were there, but we were welcomed to stay overnight. They did like for you to check in, so that security would know you were there.

    On secpond note there is a Camping world right at the cutoff towards Beckley, see if you can do that one.
