Ideas for some trip. within 600-900 miles of MD

Lantley, whatever you chose you will have a great time. I would like to point out that HBSP is 16 hours more drive time assuming that you want to come back :). It sounds like you enjoy the journey as well as the destination so go for it.
The MB area is far beyond Assateague and the robber barons of Ocean City. Well worth going if you can spend enough time to truly explore. Charleston is only 90 more miles and is an awesome vibrant southern city with lots to do.
