I'd have to say my trip to Alaska. Friends have a summer home in Cooper Landing on the Kenai Peninsula. I did day trips to both Homer on the western side and Seward on the eastern side. Across Cook Inlet you can see active volcanos. Just steam when I was there, but they erupt sometimes. In Seward they have an Alaskan Sea Life Aquarium. Only the sea life that's native to Alaska. Also a lot sport fishing charters from Seward. I had no idea how big a Halibut is or how good it tastes when its only been out of the water a couple of hours. And on my way north from the peninsula to Fairbanks, I drove past and got pictures of Denali (Mt. McKinley) when the top wasn't covered in clouds, a rare sight.
