A few hours at best - see Timberline, maybe Trillium Lake (Frog lake is more scenic in my opinion) and then 35 to Hood River, lots of places to take a short hike or photo opportunities. The entire place is overpopulated with stupid people from PDX, so, avoid a weekend day.
