Is Yuma safe

Hi, and please don't tell me crime is everywhere. There are places that are safer than others. If you stayed in Yuma, did you find it a safe place around town as you shopped and ran errands. Thanks for your opinion.

  • A lot of US Marines are based in Yuma. They'll drink all the taverns dry. You won't have any beer. Ok I'm just kidding.

EDIT: I'm going to clarify. I'm NOT slamming the Marines. I'm thankful they serve. There are quite a few Marines in Yuma, I feel safer with them around to protect us and our border. Thank God for the US Marines!

Having said that, yes they will consume lots of beer, and I'm fine with that. I'll even buy them some.
  • I have stayed a few winters in Yuma and I felt just as safe there as anywhere else that I have stayed. The only thing that I noticed about Yuma was that I would hear sirens off and on throughout the night, every night. I have not heard that many sirens anywhere else that I have been, even when staying right in the middle of a town.

It might be worth your time to take a look at who or what has told you that you might not be safe, and how they think they can benefit from your fear.
  • Does being robbed by mechanic count?:)

Other than that, safer than most places.
  • My son lives in Tucson and when we stayed in Yuma he said "why" there is little to do there along side of the golf course RV park and a couple casinos that you will never win at. Safe sure just not much there.
  • It's fine to go shopping and do whatever. Like anywhere else I wouldn't be walking around at night in all areas of Yuma. Are you staying in a park close to town or dry camping?
  • Yes it is safe

    Course crime does happen everywhere
Which is why you should 'trust your gut'....situational awareness
Something don't 'feel' right---pretty good chance it isn't so act accordingly
