- Mayor30ExplorerIf you have a dog, they have a nice dog park with a beach just for dogs.
- pbeverlyNomadWe were there for a long weekend last weekend. Roads our bikes throughout entire campground. Wife and I think site 29 is the best. It is a pull thru. Back side of camper has trees between you and neighbor, with good distance between you and them. Front side is also large with a good tree barrier and distance between you and the road. Site is huge length wise. We already booked it for June 2021.
Last weekend we were in 75. It flooded. Camper spot was fine, picnic table and fire ring were under water. Flow of water was going to neighbors site but was dammed up, so I cleared the leaves inhibiting the flow and have my neighbor some more water so I could drain faster. :-) Took all day, but MOST of it drained by dinner time. The rain that caused the flood was a good steady rain, but not tropical downpours. There was also poison ivy, so I would inspect any site for that.
Site 110 is also good, back in. There are a lot of "shared" sites so beware.
Anyway, it is an awesome park and a great location for exploring the area. - Pawz4meExplorerI don't think there's any bad site. Preferably I wouldn't want one of the shared ones unless I was traveling with someone else, but it also wouldn't be a big deal to have one.
If you want to take the shuttle downtown make sure you get your reservations ahead of time unless it's really an off time of the year. Don't wait until the morning you want to go, the shuttles fill up early. - WrightOnExplorer IIDoes anyone have a favorite site number at James Island that they recommend for week's stay?
- HorsedocExplorer IIRide over the bridge to Mt Pleasant and have lunch and a brew at Red's Ice House and maybe dinner at the Shem Creek Bar and Grill
- riggspExplorerWe were towing a 34ft 5th wheel, and the I-526 to Hwy-17 was the easiest for us...mileage was slightly longer, but time wise it was shorter and as I said, you avoid some of the tight, close intown roads...either way you go, your gps will want take you down Central Park Rd...take Maybank instead and turn left at the traffic light at the golf course (Riverland)...as stated earlier by spoon059, Central Park ends at a "T" with no light...nearly impossible to turn left on Riverbank when traffic is heavy.

Patriots Point is awesome, we try to go almost every trip down there. GREAT breakfast place is Page's Okra Grill. They probably have great lunch and dinners too, but we go for breakfast. Mondo's Italian on Folly Rd is close to the campground, delicious Italian food. Isle of Palms beach is a great beach with a nice pier, clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. D'Allesandro's Pizza is the best pizza in the city too. - LibertyManExplorerWe absolutely loved James Island. If you have kids, bring the bikes. Paved bike trails go all the way around the island and you can access them from the campground. Last time I went it was in April, and the mosquito's were starting to come out in force so be prepared for that.
- kmwaterboyExplorerThanks for the information. Just wondering if hitting 526 to 17 was the better route.
Going down to Dreher Island for a few days then down to James Island for a few more days. Have never been to Charleston, hope to see the sights and eat some good food. - Retired_JSOExplorerComing from I-26, we take 17 south to Folly Rd right to Camp Road, then turn right to park entrance more roadway, less traffic.
