James Island is probably our favorite all around campground ever. The campground itself is very nice. The store is clean and employees friendly. The county park itself is gorgeous. Nice little lake, nice bike paths, nice playgrounds for the kids, nice water park, etc. The location is fantastic too. We absolutely LOVE Charleston and the park is so convenient to downtown Charleston as well as Folly Beach, Mt Pleasant, etc. Also, I believe that if you have your campground parking pass it allows you to park for free at Folly Beach, but research that before you take action.
What size rig are you driving and from what direction are you approaching? There are some routes that are a little "tighter", but you should still have good access no matter which direction you approach. My one warning is that if you come down Central Park and turn left to Riverland its a T intersection with a stop sign. That can back up at certain times of day.
No matter what, its a great park and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!
