When I am in the Tetons, I always stay at Gros Ventre. They have some pull through sites and most back in sites are pretty long. If you go for sunrise walks along the river, watch out for moose and remember that they may look slow, but are very fast runners.
Yea, Gros Ventre was our 2nd choice. We like the smaller campgrounds, and we'd be tent camping and/or sleeping in the truck bed... I know I'd fit in many of those sites at Jenny Lake. I'd hate to bring the Outback and then end up seeing long trucks there.
What to do, what to do. Guess we can chance it and head over to Gros Ventre if we get turned away at Jenny Lake. Yes, those moose can be mean!!
We've camped at Colter Bay before. So I wanted to stay at a more "intimate" cg this time (sorta like Slough Creek or Pebble Creek in Yellowstone).
Thanks everyone! - BarabooBobExplorer IIIWhen I am in the Tetons, I always stay at Gros Ventre. They have some pull through sites and most back in sites are pretty long. If you go for sunrise walks along the river, watch out for moose and remember that they may look slow, but are very fast runners.
- maddog348ExplorerThe Jenny Lake campground is limited to 14 foot vehicles because it has a very limited number of campsites (49), it is tent camping only and the parking areas for the individual sites are very small and can only accommodate vehicles up to 14 feet in length. Any vehicles longer than that will be turned away by the campground manager.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Maria, are you planning on visiting the Jenny Lake area, and/or trying to stay at the campground at Jenny Lake?
Camping there. Need a site.
The campground is for tent sites only and vehicles are limited to 8’ tall and 14’ long. What about Coulter Bay? - lampoonerExplorerI think they might be worried about vehicle height not length.

Looks like they are set up for tent camping only. Yes my Tundra is 18' long also ~ so will strike Jenny off of our list. Boo
Do you tow or have a 5th wheel?
I am not giving up on Jenny Lake quite yet. ;) I may have to call and see if the site length is the issue or perhaps they just don't want the type of people that drive long vehicles in their campground :C Kidding.
