Gary, We are currently in Death Valley, looking to go to Joshua Tree on Friday but are unfamiliar with the area. We have a 31' fifth wheel and would prefer to boondock. Could you fill me in on where this place is? PM me if you wish. Thanks

We stayed at the KOA in Desert Hotsprings in Feb 2018 and drove around to the north entrance and out the south side on Bergoo (???) road but you’ll need a jeep or other high clearance vehicle to do that.

I lived in the area for a long time and JT is like my spiritual home. If your coming in on Hwy 62, stop at the Oasis of Mara and talk to the rangers and see where you can get in.(Also ask about Ranch tours) There are a couple of campgrounds within the park and not far from that entrance. If there is noting open ask about Indian Cove and it is the largest but its not in the park but between 29 Palms and the little town of Joshua Tree off Hwy 62. The park is huge but you can see it all in a day. Go in at either Joshua Tree entrance and head east or 29 Palms entrance and go west. The rangers are awesome and will tell you the must see sights. You can do it in one day or like me, spend days exploring.

There is no hook ups in any campground in JTNP so bring everything with you. It is the busy season so spots will be at a premium. The south entrance has free BLM camping right outside the park although the north side is the nicest. Jumbo Rocks on the north side is the nicest and being the week days you might find a spot. More flowers on the south side now as it's warmer and lower in elevation. Where ever you camp you can drive thru the whole park and it's nice to drive and stop at points of intrest.

Ha- **** autocorrect! Don’t even remember what I was trying to say, except we don’t need to see the whole park, just get an overview. We only have a couple of days to spend there. Thanks for pointing out the fubar.
