Rockhhill mentions the pleasure of camping "sans all the CG daily drama." I like boondocking a lot, but what drama? You must go to some more interesting campgrounds than I do -- maybe Naturist is doing laps? When I am forced by circumstances to use a real campground, the only thing that ever happens is that other older people (like myself) walk slowly past, usually with a small dog on a leash, and then they talk to us, and I have to pretend to be friendly, so we get trapped in a long pointless conversation.Dramatic? Not so much.
When I first decided to be a Snowbird I was coming from 12 ac plus as a home base. I really have never lived on less than 12 ac. usually more.
Soooo on the way down to Florida I really had a hard time with the close proximity of campers in CG's. "It's all relevant".
Then when I sold my house up north to go Full Time. After a year like most of us we, stop driving around aimlessly and pick some destinations and sit a spell and follow the sun. Florida being my pick for the winter.
Again coming from living on spacious acres most of my life I still find it hard to be real comfortable parking in such close quarters when in Florida for the winter.
I was to quickly find out that most of the CG's are like that. And Florida is flat, palm trees and swamp and no BLM land to be seen! So I had to do something for my sanity and my need for trees and fresh air breezes!
Henceforth the justification for buying the house on acreage and in the pines for my winter home. Ahh almost like back home.
'True' boondocking out west, is STILL on my bucket list and I hope I will still be able to cross that one off in the coming year. :C
