In general, all the NC state parks here are decent. Some sites are not waterfront but there are many that are. Personally I like County Line park, mainly because the waters edge is a gentle slope into the site, easy for kids to swim right from the site, but with lake temps currently holding around 45-48f I doubt thats an issue.
There are several parks close to each other in that area, Take a ride for an hour or so while here and ride through them, give you an idea for future trips.
