The drive from Miami to Key West is something everyone needs to do at least once. It is absolutely gorgeous. That said, be ready for some tough traffic, so don't do it if pressed for time.
Having made that drive several times, we now fly into KW whenever heading down there. Booked right now for the last week of March! Do expect some sticker shock when you go to book a hotel!
